I love her. She is deeply imbedded in my heart. You are greatly beloved, Ms Burnett. My dad took a sabbatical and worked at the Department of Energy for a year in 1974/5. You were my lifeline as my friends were left behind in Tennessee and my parents, who were usually a joyful love match, argued nightly because my mom would drink with my Aunt Marianne during the day. As the youngest child, I was left alone and baffled by this behavior. But Carol Burnett reruns came on at 5pm and I would close the door to my bedroom and be at peace watching on a tiny black and white screen. Thank you, Carol, Vicky, Harvey, all of the background actors and dancers, guests, and everyone associated with the show. Mom and dad were married for 57 years until dad died of cancer. LOVE. The Carol Burnett Show was all about JOY and LOVE.

Also, let me add. I don’t know if you all know the true impact on my life growing up ; it was massive. Good clean classy comedy & your guests also had a big impact & influence on my childhood & adulthood. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

I’m 74 years old & I grew up on Carol Burnett & I Love Lucy, The Duck VanDyke shows & many more, Gunsmoke, Andy Griffith, the PONDERSOSA, etc. & I’m so happy now I can watch reruns of fondest memories growing up with you Carrol, Tim, Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence & many more it would take forever to list all the names. I must say Carol you & Tim Conway are genius actors, Carol I like your singing too, and u all acclaimed many awards for accomplishments, in whatever you did, from Comedy, to Dramas, to Movies, Directors, Authors & many more awards you truly deserve. I was seven years old when this aired and cannot believe how fast times goes by, I don't remember much about it but I do remember my parents watching the show and having a great laugh every week. You don't have shows like this anymore where you can tell the cast had just as much fun doing the show as people had watching the show. Sadly, a lot of the people are no longer with us but they leave us all with great memories. It's hard to believe this finale was back in 1978 and watching it, it feels like it wasn't that long ago, yet it was.

Bifocals were no big deal to me. I started wearing them when I was 28. My eyesight was---and is---that screwy.

What in the world took so long? Well deserved award! Congratulations Carol!!!

Impossible not to break character.....😮😮

I have watched this soooo many times, and to me, the funniest part of it all is Tim is trying to get them to break. Vickie Lawrence mentions this in an interview. Tim is over here pushing the limit. Carol is trying to stay in character but has already begun to break. Dick is on the other end losing it. If you pay attention, you can see vickie come close to losing as well. So you have Tim, doing this big build-up, and for a split second, they think its over and the great Tim has won again. Only for vickie to swoop in and steal the show with one of the best adlibbed lines ever.

Tim almost cracked himself up when talking about the elephant squashing the dwarf. Lol.
